Breath of Fire
An energizing breathwork practice to increase alertness and circulation, also known as Espresso Breath.
Why it works
When you need rapid mental clarity or an energy boost without caffeine, Breath of Fire increases oxygen flow to the brain, stimulates the sympathetic nervous system in a controlled way, and releases stagnant energy. It's particularly effective for clearing brain fog, preparing for focused work, or shifting out of sluggishness.
Good to know
Start with just 30 seconds if you're new to this practice. The rhythm should feel like a locomotive building steam. If you feel lightheaded, return to normal breathing immediately. Avoid this practice if you're pregnant, have high blood pressure, or during acute anxiety (use calming practices instead). Best done on an empty stomach.
